Music Teacher Bio
Mary Bue is a performing musician and songwriter based in Minneapolis. A creative spirit since a young child, her mother bribed her to take piano lessons beginning in 4th grade which, begrudgingly at the time, blossomed into her true passion and she is currently recording her 8th full-length studio album and has toured independently in almost every state! Mary loves teaching beginners and is down to earth, patient, welcoming, and a bit silly. While the piano is her main instrument with guitar as a close second, she has studied (to varying degrees) piano, guitar, alto saxophone, voice, harp, ukulele, and has dabbled in drums and trumpet.
Ms. Bue grew up in small-town Princeton, Minnesota where she began her musical journey with her parents’ record collection (Beatles, Bob Dylan, The Supremes, Joni Mitchell), Disney movies, and church choir. She eventually was accompanying church services as well as junior high and high school plays and choir concerts. She moved to Duluth as a senior in high school to attend the University of MN – Duluth (post-secondary program) and received her B.A.S. Psychology. Her first performance of original music was at age 17 at Amazing Grace Cafe in Duluth and she has gone on to perform thousands of gigs across the country.
Mary also is a certified yoga instructor at the 500-hour level and opened Imbue Yoga Studio in Minneapolis in 2016. She recently closed the studio to focus on songwriting, recording, touring, and teaching music. However, she does incorporate some wonderful yoga tools of posture and deep breathing, as well as offering techniques to care for wrists, fingers, shoulders, and low back which can all take a toll from hours of practicing instruments. Mary looks forward to practicing music with you or your child soon!
