In a late-summer-storm-weather-coming-in, tourist-obstacled, Lake Superior moment I ran into my friend Gaelynn Lea who was busking on Duluth’s lakewalk. I was out for a stroll with one of my besties, Sara Alexander (fab music teacher & musician based in Virginia, MN) and we started gabbing it up w/ Gaelynn.

Gaelynn, violin teacher, insurance rep and recording artist told us about her new project: an instrumental, violin looping album that she just got done recording at one of my favorite spots – Sacred Heart Studio – with engineer Jake Larson. [I was just in there doing some work last week when a truck lost its breaks and crashed through the wall … but that’s another story entirely].

The Arrowhead Story is a collective of earth lovers based in Duluth, MN who are choosing music as a medium for change. Their Facebook page describes it further: “Last year, a group of musicians came together in Duluth to record a compilation album titled ‘Industry. Peace. Environment.’ to raise awareness about sulfide mining and the permanent changes that upcoming decisions will have on the landscape they love. This year, the movement gains ground by drawing together even more artists and activists to collaborate on an unprecedented series of events that will serve as a forum for a chorus of voices on this issue being raised and heard.”
